Hand Massages can help integrate primitive reflexes in the hands providing tactile stimulation. This can help improve motor skills and address sensory integration issues.
The three main reflexes in the hands are:
Hand-Mouth Babkin: A reflex that is found in the middle of the palm. If you press into the palm of the hand and there are sensations in the jaw, or mouth movements, then the Babkin is retained.
Palmar Grasp: Closely linked to the Babkin, found by pressing gently across the palm, just below the fingers. If retained, the fingers will curl over, with the stimulation.
Pull to Sit Reflex (Hands Pulling): This reflex is one that is assessed in newborn babies. When you hold a baby around the wrists and pull them up from laying on their backs, it triggers a reaction in the arms, so they bend slightly, to help assist with the transition of movement. The head and core of the body should naturally be part of the response.
Reduce tension and stress: Massaging the hands can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes relaxation and reduces feeling of anxiety or tension.
Improve circulation: The pressure applied during massage stimulates blood flow, which helps to oxygenate tissues and flush out toxins.
Relieve Pain: It can help alleviate discomfort caused by conditions like arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, or everyday strain activities like typing and other repetitive tasks.
Boost overall well-being: Many people find hand massages deeply soothing, which enhances emotional and mental wellbeing.
A hand massage can involve using a wide range of techniques like RMTi, Trigger Point Therapy, Kneading, Pressing, Stroking, Acupressure, Taping, Cupping, using a Rezzimax Tuner Pro or a Tens Unit
